General Summary
The Assistant Professor who fills this position will be responsible for teaching, advising, and serving on committees in the Educational, Organizational, and Global Leadership Unit. We seek to hire someone who can fill needed content expertise areas (quantitative research methods, higher education finance, higher education law & policy, governance of higher education) and provide new energy and perspectives related to teaching, recruiting, retaining, and advising students. This individual will also serve on committees for doctoral students in the various programs across our department, with a particular focus on higher education leadership committees. To attain and keep graduate faculty status (which is required to teach in a graduate program), the assistant professor will maintain scholarship in the broader field of higher education, with a preferred focus on quantitative research methods, finance, law & policy, and governance. Ideally, this faculty member should have connections with thought leaders in the profession as well as in professional associations in the field of higher education.
Major Duties
Provide leadership in teaching EDLD courses beginning August/September 2024.

Familiar with and committed to this area of study, having previously taught the necessary courses and produced scholarship in the field.

Advise master’s and doctoral students in the various programs in our unit.

Assume major responsibilities for advising master’s and doctoral students, recruiting future students, potential leadership responsibilities in the unit (eventually), and teaching graduate level courses.
Minimum Qualifications
Earned doctoral degree (Ph.D./Ed.D.) in Higher Education Leadership or closely related field from an accredited institution.

Experience supporting adult learners and diverse populations, including second language learners.

Active research agenda or evidence of the potential for an active research agenda related to higher education finance, higher education law & policy, and/or governance in higher education.

Record of professional involvement and leadership (e.g., professional associations) in the field of higher education.

Passion for and demonstrated commitment to improving the educational opportunities and outcomes of ethnically, culturally, economically, and linguistically diverse communities, with inclusion, equity, and social justice a key focus.
Desired Qualifications
Expertise in quantitative research methods.

Evidence of prior publications in books, academic journals, and presentations at national and/or international conferences.

Prior experience advising graduate students.

Prior experience as chair and/or committee member of doctoral dissertations.

Prior professional administrative experience in higher education.

Success in securing external research funding.

Professional experience in international or global settings (e.g., teaching, consulting, and research).
