What's involved in this role:
We are looking for an Applied Scientist in Le Sueur, Minnesota.
The Applied Scientist has ownership in the planning and executing of experiments, projects, and production trials in laboratory and pilot plant settings; conducting subsequent data analysis and preparing project reports to develop new products/processes or to modify existing products/processes.
- Project owner of research and development projects for ingredient development and process optimization.
- Responsible for designing and executing a series of experiments to test hypotheses related to project outcomes.
- Leverage scientific knowledge and problem-solving abilities to support research and commercial efforts.
- Collaborate with operations to ensure success of new commercial processes and optimization of current processes.
- Collaborate with other technical teams to test products during the commercialization process.
- Write project charters, experimental designs, completes data analysis and writes final project reports to facilitate excellence in communication.
- Operate pilot and lab scale equipment.
What you need to join our team:
- Bachelor's Degree in Food Science, Dairy Science, Chemistry or Engineering or related field required.
- Equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.
- Experience in a laboratory or dairy plant environment preferred.
Where you'll be working:
Our Protein Research Center (PRC) in Le Sueur, MN, showcases our technical expertise in analyzing, purifying and commercializing innovative dairy ingredients to help food manufacturers develop new and healthy, dairy-based products. The PRC houses state-of-the-art analytical equipment, and a complete pilot plant that can mimic commercial unit operations used in whey processing. Our pilot plant equipment allow the team to develop and optimize process technologies for manufacturing new innovative ingredients.
