Park and Recreation Director

The town of Avon seeks qualified applicants for its part-time Recreation Director. Performs duties specific to overseeing the programs sponsored by the Park and Recreation Commission including, but not limited to, organizing, planning, and directing the summer program, seasonal events, and supervising the staff. Requires frequent communication with the Park and Recreation Commission.

Candidate must enjoy working with children and demonstrate excellent communications skills as position requires considerable interaction with the public. This position requires a flexible work schedule with some evening and/or weekend hours. This is a summertime, concentrated position and will require a larger workload during the Recreation Department’s busy summer program schedule. Non-summer hours would likely average about 10-14 hours a week, depending on the program schedule, as well as the Recreation Commission and department head meetings. Position would average about 40 hours a week during the summer. The position would not exceed 1,000 hours per year. This is a part-time, non-union position with no benefits. The starting salary pay is $24.73 per hour.
