Overview of the Position

Our Director of Sourcing, Procurement, and Production will be responsible for enhancing our global supply network. You'll oversee Kindthread's end to end sourcing of products to include managing all phases of sourcing including identifying cost saving opportunities, assuring continuity of supply, creating competitive environments, creatively negotiating and generating contracts to assure seamless availability of our products. You'll oversee logistics, planning and purchasing to ensure the consistency, cost-effectiveness, efficiency and adequacy of our sourcing and procurement process. You'll be responsible for overseeing and facilitating our purchasing strategy, lead a team in purchasing, operations and logistics, and ensure all processes meet our standards and designations for work quality. This role is pivotal in ensuring the smooth and efficient functioning of our procurement processes and driving strategic initiatives to optimize our supplier relationships and procurement strategies.

Essential Job Duties

  • Establish and maintain reliable sources of supply to ensure timely procurement of all assigned goods, materials, and services. Implement and manage long term agreements which deliver best in class quality, delivery, and total cost.
  • Evaluate existing sources for technical capability and progressiveness, manufacturing capability, quality system, management and financial stability, cost competitiveness and responsiveness.
  • Research and evaluate alternate sources of supply. Communicate opportunities with cross functional teams and make recommendations for alternate suppliers, designs, and materials to reduce costs.
  • Request and analyze quotes and bids. Promote the need to share cost break down analysis to aide negotiations of per unit cost, commanding best overall cost and commercial terms.
  • Negotiate and manage complex business agreements and contracts, both domestic and international.
  • Manage the company's supply portfolio ensuring transparency of spending.
  • Generate and implementing efficient sourcing and category management strategies.
  • Analyze and calculate costs of procurement and suggest methods to decrease expenditure.
  • Determine quantity and timing of deliveries.
  • Maintain knowledge of the market, in addition to current prices and fair rates for goods.
  • Establish essential guidelines for approving purchase orders, set purchasing policies, manage inventory, budget for materials and continuously consider stock requirements, skills and account balances.
  • Develop supplier strategy to assure the company is engaged with world class suppliers.
  • Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, including finance, operations, and technology teams, to align procurement strategies with business needs and objectives. Communicate effectively with senior leadership to provide regular updates on procurement performance and initiatives.
  • Drive the enhancement of departmental processes and identify opportunities to consolidate spend.
  • Develop a global sourcing & production strategy and vendor matrix appropriate for all product lines.

Technical Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing processes and capabilities, materials, applications, and industry trends.

  • Demonstrated experience partnering with senior business leaders to advise and drive key business decisions.
  • Highly proficient in MS Office, specifically Excel

  • Strong communication skills, both verbally and written across all levels of the organization
  • Strong change management skills with the ability to lead through growth (inclusive of system implementations and reorganizations)

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and at least ten (10) years purchasing/strategic sourcing experience along with 5+ year's relevant operations/supply chain experience
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of purchasing or related experience including proven capability using advanced procurement principles and supply chain management on a global basis.
  • International sourcing/supply chain development experience.
  • Experience with commodity management, finished goods, and component sourcing.
  • Experience with contract manufacturing vendors.
  • Strong preference for some international sourcing experience
  • Experience working in a multi-function, multi-geographic environment.
  • Knowledge of contract development principles, laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Experience managing supplier and customer relationships and the competitive bidding process.
