This role is an exciting opportunity to be a critical part of the talent engine fueling a high growth organization that has rapidly developed and commercialized Spikevax and, has the potential to launch up to twenty-two products by 2028.Moderna is looking for aDirector, Clinical CMC Finance to become the finance leader for our Technical Development organization and provide financial oversight to all clinical (R&D) spend within Modernas CMC organization.The role will report to the Head of CMC Finance, serve as the finance business partner to the SVP of Technical Development and have a close connection to the R&D Finance organization.

The Director will play a critical role in establishing our strategy, providing financial leadership & advising, and enable advanced analytics and reporting. We are looking for a candidate that can confidently lead in a fast-paced and complex environment, while both navigating ambiguities, and driving results forward as we strive to achieve Modernas mission to deliver on the promise of mRNA science to create a new generation of transformative medicines for patients.

Heres What You Will Do:

Global Financial Leadership:Provide direct financial leadership for our Technical Development organization and financial oversight to all R&D spend with Modernas CMC organization (~$1 billion in annual managed spend). This reflects our commitment to act with urgency and behave like owners, ensuring resources are allocated efficiently to fuel innovation and patient impact.

Strategic Planning and Oversight:Engage in strategic planning and oversight for Moderna technical development and CMC drug development costs, demonstrating the mindset of pursuing options in parallel to optimize clinical CMC spend and accepting risk as a path to groundbreaking achievements.

Financial Planning and Analysis:Manage planning cycles with a focus on obsessing over learning and pivoting fearlessly, ensuring financial strategies are adaptable and aligned with Modernas ambitious goals.

Strategic Partnership:Work closely with operating groups and technical development teams to co-lead in strategy development, and operational excellence programs. This embodies the mindset of removing viscosity to encourage collective action and questioning convention to continuously innovate our approaches.

Operational Performance Analysis:Deliver insightful analysis on operational performance, leveraging a mindset of digitize everywhere possible to enhance analytics and reporting capabilities, driving dynamic range in strategy and execution.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:Foster collaboration with leaders across CMC, R&D, and global finance functions, showcasing acting with dynamic range and removing viscosity to ensure cohesive financial planning and operational excellence.

Heres What You Will Bring to the Table:

Basic Qualifications:

9+ years of progressive experience in related field, including financial planning & analysis, and/or financial operations roles.

Bachelors degree required.

Experience with cost accounting, advanced analytical platforms, and visualization tools

Preferred Qualifications:

MBA and/or CPA

Pharmaceutical/Biotechnology industry experience

Strong business acumen: proven ability to effectively scrutinize and challenge assumptions and interpret the strategy and priorities of the organization in financial terms.

Excellent project management / leadership skills with demonstrated track record and ability to engage teams to work together towards common deadlines.

Strong presentation skills to deliver succinctly and effectively deliver recommendations to senior leaders, frames complex concepts.

Prior experience working in a matrixed environment; experience coordinate processes and delivering results through the collaboration of related teams.

Flexibility and ability to adapt to changing conditions and different culture.

Exceptional attitude, diligence, and ability to motivate teams to do the same.
