We are looking for a Freelance Technical Designer Denim for a top fashion company in New York City The Technical Designer – Denim provides specific technical support for the brand's supply chain through strong technical skillset in men's & women's denim. You will be responsible for achieving correct fits and design details from design inception through proto to pre-production within the compliance calendar dates. This will be a hybrid position.
Responsibilities:

Interact with Design and Merchandising during prototype development to achieve design standards for the men's and women's denim.
Create spec sheet following the blocks and design direction. 
Manage the block, proto/fit, and production fittings and update all fit notes and revised size specs into Centric PLM in a timely manner and pass to production team. 
Clearly communicate pattern spec and fit changes through the fit comments or phone calls or video calls.
Understand the fabric and communicate with the interlining supplier to identify the correct interlining and update the BOM.
Ensure that all prototypes and samples are reviewed upon arrival for trim and details.
Communicate in day-to-day activities with counterpart team (Design, Product Development, sourcing, merchant, Off-shore team & vendors).
Oversee the creation and maintenance of proto/fit sample, and production status charts and reference books in conjunction with the compliance approval process.
Understand washes and shrinkages on pattern base on fit and spec on Denim Jeans / Wash garments for Men’s and Women’s.
Understand the denim stretch and growth and adjust the spec accordingly to maintain the fit consistency.
Support the non-denim category when the team overwhelming and need support.

Required Qualifications

5+ years of related work experience.
Denim specialist, understanding of wash, wet and dry processes, pattern correction, shrinkage, stretch & growth, and grading.
Experience of both menswear and womenswear multi product category with major denim experience.
Proficiently in using computer and quick learning, centric experience is preferable.
Strong organizational and follow-up skills
Excellent interpersonal skills
Adobe Illustrator, Microsoft Office, Centric PLM is added benefit.
