Description:
- Reporting to the Director of ED, the Clinical Nurse delivers high quality of care to patients in an Emergency Room setting.
Responsibilities:
As a member of our staff, you'd be expected to apply high-level nursing expertise in emergency situations that can, at times, be stressful. Acute and critical care units can be fast-paced. Your duties and responsibilities may require split-second decision-making skills and would include the following:
- Quickly assessing the severity of patients' conditions.
- Observing and recording patient vital signs.
- Administering intravenous fluids and medications.
- Properly using ventilators, monitors and other types of medical equipment.
- Ordering diagnostic tests.
- On-the-spot collaboration with other team members.
- Applying nursing protocols to life-threatening situations.
What you will need
Required:
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program; basic professional nursing degree (with requirement to obtain a BSN within a specific time frame)
- Current licensure by the Maryland State Board of Nursing or Compact State as a Registered Nurse.
- BLS certification (issued through the American Heart Association)
Preferred:
- BSN or MSN preferred
- At least 1 year of nursing experience in an acute care setting
