LEGAL ASSISTANT

The Legal Assistant reports to the Director of Legal Operations, and supports the JBS USA Legal Department and Ethics & Compliance Department by providing administrative assistance to the General Counsel and other members of the departments, as needed, with calendaring, expense reports, travel, internal department expenses, and general file management. In addition to general responsibility for a variety of administrative tasks, the Legal Assistant acts as the department “front door” and coordinator between the legal department and the organization. This position may also assist with law firm and vendor billing, data analytics in connection therewith, and other department projects.

The ideal candidate for this position has a positive attitude, proactive mindset, ability to successfully manage multiple priorities, and the aptitude to maintain a high level of confidentiality while utilizing great judgement, poise, and discretion. The Legal Assistant will be expected to perform office functions economically and efficiently, organize work, establish priorities and maintain good interpersonal relations and communications with a wide variety of individuals and groups, including in-house and outside lawyers, support staff, plant personnel, and corporate executives.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Proactively support business functions and overall day-to-day operations of the JBS USA Legal Department
  • Complete a variety of administrative and clerical tasks, such as editing documents and correspondence, managing signatures, copying, filing, scanning, and routine document management
  • Oversee administrative processing of settlements, severances, and service of process documents
  • Coordinate document retention and retrieval for subpoena, government agency, and litigation requests
  • Assist with matter management, case management, and records management in the enterprise legal management system
  • Maintain department knowledge management system, subscriptions and licenses, and other data tracking
  • Prepare expense report summaries, purchase/procurement reconciliations, and other financial tasks
  • Coordinate meetings, agendas, preparation of presentations and other meeting materials
  • Support the General Counsel and other legal executives with calendar management, meeting preparation, travel arrangements, expense reports and more
  • Perform all duties professionally, accurately, and with excellent attention to detail
  • Other duties as assigned


QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 1-2 years of experience with a law firm or corporate legal department
  • A positive attitude, ability to take initiative, strong commitment to client service, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous and quickly changing environment is required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including diplomacy and flexibility, and the ability to interface effectively with personnel at all levels throughout the Company
  • Exceptional organizational skills, time-management abilities, and keen attention to detail
  • Solid grasp of legal language and terminology
  • Strong technical background, with a preference for Adobe, M365 tools and apps, SAP, and experience with CounselLink is a plus
  • Accounting or billing experience preferred, ideally within a corporate or professional services environment
  • Hold a genuine desire to add value through hard work
  • As a salaried position with the company, you may be required to travel at some point to other facilities, to attend Company events, or as a representative of the Company in other situations. Unless otherwise specified in this posting, the amount of travel may vary and the most qualified candidate must be willing and able to travel as business needs dictate.


The applicant who fills this position will be eligible for the following compensation and benefits:
  • Benefits: Vision, Medical, and Dental coverage begin after 60 days of employment;
  • Paid Time Off: sick leave, vacation, and 6 company observed holidays;
  • 401(k): company match begins after the first year of service and follows the company vesting schedule;
  • Base salary range of $55,000 to $65,000; and
  • This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s annual bonus plan, the amount of bonus varies and is subject to the standard terms and conditions of the incentive program.


For individuals assigned and/or hired to work in Colorado, JBS is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation for this role. This compensation range is specific to the State of Colorado and takes into account various factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to a candidate’s relevant experience, qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiencies for the role.
