The Web Developer is part of a tight-knight team supporting the school's marketing initiatives. This role requires proficiency in back-end web development (PHP programming, templating, writing SQL, troubleshooting) and front-end development (JQuery, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, accessibility, usability, cross-browser support).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Write and debug PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for Full Sail's websites
  • Work with CMS applications such as Wordpress or CraftCMS to create back-end interfaces that facilitate editing front-end changes for content editors

Other Responsibilities:

  • Attend and participate in daily stand ups and weekly/biweekly sprint reviews and demos
  • Work closely with the team - designers, developers, project management, and producers
  • Contribute to all aspects of the development process
  • Develop and debug cross-browser compatible HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Adhere to internal coding and documentation standards on shared code and projects, as well as best practice approaches to coding in general
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Competencies:

  • Critical-thinking and problem-solving skills while remaining professional and personable
  • Write PHP code to enhance CMS functionality
  • Integrate markup into back-end web platforms; e.g. WordPress, Craft CMS (twig templating)
  • Git version control to check in and check out work
  • Familiarity with databases (MySQL, Postgres), writing SQL, and database concepts (foreign keys, schemas)
  • Modern web standards and best practices using HTML, CSS, JavaScript
  • CSS and preprocessors; e.g. Sass, Grunt, Gulp
  • JavaScript (JQuery) libraries to enhance front end; e.g. Slideshows, Smooth Scrolling, Lazy Load Images
  • Exhibit strong attention to detail and thoroughness
  • Communicate and multi-task effectively within a team-based environment
  • Demonstrate the ability to self-start and a desire to learn new technologies and techniques
  • Linux command line
  • Experience with AWS is a plus

Education and/or Experience:

  • Associate's and/or Bachelor's degree, or equivalent practical experience required
  • At least 2 years experience at an agency or as part of in-house team

Environmental Factors / Physical Demands

Work is performed in an office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to have the ability to maintain active customer and employee communication; access, input and retrieve information from the computer system; enter alpha-numeric data into a computerized system often while listening on the telephone. May be subject to bending, reaching, kneeling, stooping, lifting up to thirty (30) pounds and sitting for much of the time.
