ZooLights is Stone Zoo’s annual holiday nighttime event (4:00 pm – 9:30 pm) which opens on Friday, November 15th and goes through January 5th (closed Thanksgiving & Christmas Day).  The hourly rate for this part-time seasonal position is $17.25 per hour & double-time on holiday nights (Christmas Eve, New Year’s Eve & New Year’s Day).  Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to: assisting & processing guests at the front gate, operating array of amusement rides while providing a safe & inviting environment for guests who want to ride, and helping with any and all revenue generating operations related to programs that fall within ZooLights operations.  In the course of providing these services, the ZooLights Associate will conduct themselves in a professional manner while exhibiting and delivering the highest level of customer service to our guests. The ability to handle and monitor cash for the purpose of receiving fees and tracking revenue is essential.  Must be able to work outdoors and in inclement weather elements common to the winter season. 


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Process and assist entering guests at front gate Admissions.
  • Able to shovel 1 - 2 inches of snow and complete basic snow removal/clean-up tasks.
  • Able to complete light maintenance and clean up tasks relative to their work areas.
  • Accurately track fees collected from assigned revenue area by correctly following departmental protocol.
  • Follow ZNE’s cash handling policies.
  • Provide polite customer service & friendly crowd control when necessary.
  • Respond to guest questions in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Familiar with basic zoo operations, including safety procedures & animal collections.
  • Provide the highest level of customer service to Zoo guests.
  • Relieve other co-workers for breaks as needed.
  • Scheduled work hours with fluctuation based on Zoo activity levels.
  • Must report to work on time in proper uniform & with a positive attitude.


Minimum Job Requirements

  • Scheduled work hours with fluctuation based on Zoo activity levels.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to quality customer service standards.
  • Fluency in the English Language.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively in a variety of situations dealing with the public.


Preferred Job Requirements

  • At least 18 years of age to operate small amusement rides (per MA state safety laws)
  • At least 2 years of cash handling experience.
  • Second language is a plus.
  • 1 year of Hospitality or Retail experience.
  • Previous work experience in Guest Relations environment.
