The Actuary will support the functions/tasks of the Actuarial Department in a more advanced and independent capacity. The functions include any of the following: premium rate development and regulatory filings, financial forecasting, experience studies, monthly reserve setting, provider risk sharing analytics/contracting, model development and other duties as assigned.

The Actuary will be proficient in use and knowledge of large databases, Datamarts advanced excel modeling, SQL coding and other relevant programing languages in use by the Department. The Actuary will proactively and independently explore data/models in depth, draw conclusions and make recommendations to actuarial leadership demonstrating the desire and ability to advance analytics and business strategy and to solve complex problems. The Actuary will collaborate effectively across the organization in support of achieving department and corporate goals.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Education:

Bachelor's Degree with emphasis on coursework that supports analytical problem-solving skills.

Associate in the Society of Actuaries

Minimum Experience:

2 years of experience in actuarial analyst role

Required Skills:

  • Demonstrated broad understanding of health insurance products and markets and core functions of health insurance company
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work in time-sensitive environment
  • Ability to work independently as well as work effectively as a member of a team
  • Demonstrated desire to innovate and drive process improvements
  • Demonstrated strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Advanced Excel and DataMart and Database management skills
  • SQL and other relevant programming skills
