Role Summary

The Material Analyst is responsible for material planning of multiple production builds. As a Material Analyst, you must ensure that assigned parts have on time delivery to the correct locations. This role requires flexibility to support quick product changeover, supplier relationship management, and an analytical approach to ensure optimal part inventory levels and analysis of exceptions. Tasks will require performing detailed requirements analysis, pulling data from multiple sources, and performing risks assessments to determine mitigation plan. This candidate will understand the Rivian supply chain, our production processes, our warehouse operations, and impact on other Rivian teams. This position is based onsite in Normal, IL and reports to the Manager of Material Planning.
Responsibilities

Build and maintain strong supplier relationshipsClose collaboration with assigned suppliers to ensure timely delivery of partsForecast accurate supply requirements via Material Requirements Planning “MRP” processManage safety stock to maintain on hand inventory at optimal levelsEnsure successful execution of day-to-day replenishment and supply continuity for all programsPrimary point of contact for plant or warehouse escalationsManage backlog recovery through clear communication to the supply baseAbility to support quick turn analysis on inventory run out and communicate clearly internally/externallyPerform risk analysis and implement countermeasuresFormally document root cause and corrective actionsAttends meetings, creates reports and presents for their respective area/shop or suppliersInterfaces with Logistics department and logistics providersSupport engineering changes, timing, and supply availabilityDetermine bank build quantities in tooling moves, resourcing, and constrained supply situationsWorks cross-functionally with other departments to establish processes and proceduresDevelops and maintains department procedures and other written documentationMonitors supplier performance, conformance, and production schedulesFacilitates and highlights opportunity for supplier improvement plans and countermeasuresCross functionally trains and supports plans to cover peer unplanned and planned absenceVisit customer locations & plants during major milestone events to support the teams when required.
Qualifications

Bachelors of Science in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or other related fields highly preferred or 3+ years of applicable experience.Previous material planning or warehouse planning experience preferred.Experience with Materials Requirement Planning “MRP” Software such as SAP Preferred.Experience understanding MRP logic and demand plan creations highly preferred.Working knowledge in Excel, Word, Power point, and Outlook programs.Ability to set tasks and responsibilities.Creative problem-solving skills.Ability to meet deadlines and stay within budget.Strong team orientation and cross functional attitude.
