JOB TITLE:

Assistant Professor of Rangeland Ecology and Management

JOB PURPOSE:

Develop an applied research program in Rangeland Ecology and Management; teach in the Rangeland Ecology and Watershed Management.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The successful candidate will join colleagues in the Department of Ecosystem Science and Management (ESM) that integrate Rangeland ecology, watershed management, soil science, and entomology as well as colleagues working in production agriculture, natural resources, and ecology across the College. ESM values a team that represents diverse backgrounds and experiences. The nine-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor is expected to develop an externally funded, applied research program on Rangeland Ecology and Management. In addition, the successful candidate will teach upper-level undergraduate courses in the Rangeland Ecology and Watershed Management degree program in ESM and support the Ranch Management and Agricultural Leadership undergraduate program. The candidate will also provide professional and university service.

Standard expectations for UW faculty include developing a successful, externally funded research program, publishing peer-reviewed publications, teaching and mentoring graduate and undergraduate students, and performing appropriate service activities for the University, the State, and the faculty’s professional field.

REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY:

This position provides vital support to campus customers and requires the successful candidate be available to work on campus.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Ph.D. in Rangeland Ecology and Management or closely related area
Evidence of teaching experience at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels
Evidence of research productivity in the form of peer-reviewed journal publications
Experience conducting applied research on Rangeland vegetation and plant communities
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience conducting collaborative research with private landowners, federal and state agencies and/or special interest groups on rangeland vegetation and plant communities commonly found in Wyoming.
Evidence of success at obtaining grant funding
Evidence of mentoring undergraduate and/or graduate research
Postdoctoral experience
