Methodist Hospital is looking to hire a Sterile Processing Liaison (SPD) to join our team Come join us as a Partner for Good and help us make an impact on the care and experience that our patients and their families receive every day.

Position Summary:

The Sterile Processing Liaison coordinates between Sterile Processing, the Operating Room, and Surgical Aides. Facilitates daily operations to ensure that the OR has what they need for their procedures and is pro-active in identifying OR needs. Direct communication with the Sterile Processing Department to prioritize and anticipate tray and instrument needs. Is responsible for keeping updated inventory in the surgical cores, updated and accurate emergency cart inventory and actively inspects return carts for unused product. Maintains and schedules product preventative maintenance. Works with vendor representatives to ensure products are in the facility and sterilized prior to case start times. Has direct responsibility for reducing immediate use sterilization. Attention to detail, excellent multi-tasking skills and commitment to best practice that aligns with current policy and industry standard is required.

Work Schedule:

  • 1.0 FTE
  • Primarily Monday through Friday, surgical business hours.
  • Infrequent evenings, nights, weekends or holidays per department need.
  • Weekend leader on-call rotation

Required Qualifications:

  • Education, Experience or Equivalent Combination:
    • High School Diploma required.
    • Three years of sterile processing experience.
    • Successful experience with process improvement projects in a collaborative environment.
  • Licensure/ Registration/ Certification:
    • Certification as Sterile Processing Technician (CRCST) HSPA or CBSPD
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    • Ability to work effectively with and integrate interests of various disciplines.
    • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
    • Strong interpersonal skills to maintain effective relationships with customers and stakeholders.
    • Ability to effectively use computer systems technology to support Surgical Services performance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Education, Experience or Equivalent Combination:
    • Associate degree from an accredited education institution
    • 5 years of experience as Sterile Processing technician or equivalent.
    • 2 years of experience working with Microsystems SPM.
