The Y's boxing program welcomes everyone, promoting confidence, discipline, and fitness while building community bonds. Through a blend of boxing, self-defense, and martial arts, participants develop both physically and mentally. The instructor plays a key role, guiding and mentoring with values like respect and perseverance. Together, they create a supportive environment where everyone can thrive.   

How You Will Make an Impact (Essential Functions)  

Develop and implement age-appropriate boxing and martial arts curriculum for participants.   Conduct engaging and challenging training sessions focused on boxing techniques, self-defense, and character development.  Ensure the safety of participants by enforcing proper techniques, providing adequate supervision, and maintaining a supportive and inclusive environment.  Motivate and encourage youth to set and achieve personal goals, both inside and outside the gym.  Foster positive relationships with participants, parents, and staff members to support the overall success of the program.  Maintain accurate records of participant attendance, progress, and behavior.  Continuously assess and adjust the program curriculum to meet the evolving needs and interests of participants.  Promote the YMCA's character values, mission, wellness philosophy, and role in the community.   Lead by example the Y’s mission, vision, and values with program participants, members, staff, and guests.    Become an Ambassador of the Y’s work and culture by being the ultimate storyteller of who we are as an organization and brand.    Complete other duties as assigned.   

What You Bring to the Community Enterprise  

Previous experience as a boxing instructor or martial arts instructor.  Strong knowledge of boxing techniques, self-defense, and martial arts principles.  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and motivate a diverse group of students.   Demonstrated ability to create and deliver dynamic and age-appropriate training sessions.  CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hiring).  Additional certifications in martial arts disciplines such as Tae Kwon Do or mixed martial arts is preferred.  Bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish) is a plus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend, talk, and occasionally lift and/or move items, including equipment, furniture, and/or children. Pay Range

$16.00 - $40.00 per hour, DOE
