JOB TITLE: 
Weaver

JOB CLASSIFICATION
:  Senior Machine Operator

REPORTS TO: 
Production Manager

PURPOSE:  
The weaver makes sure assigned waterjet weaving machines run efficiently with minimal defects.  

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
:

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1)  Knowledge of all general plant safety rules & absolutes.

2)  Operate equipment in a safe manner

3)  Meet production goals set-out by department manager

4)  Follow proper policies and procedures and job specifications set out by department and location

JOB SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

-Knowledge of Weaver policies and procedures
-Completing daily team maintenance (DTM) activities
-Auditing safety items in department
-Patrol assigned set of machines looking for stopped machines that are supposed to be in production
-Operate water jet weave machinery by repairing end breaks and starting up mechanical failures
-Walk backs of the machines. Complete light inspections on each machine twice per shift.
-Identify and get cloth and machine defects corrected.
-Creel in filling as needed.
 

SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

-Ability to read, write, and follow directions
-Ability to comprehend written and verbal instructions
-Basic Math (add, subtract, multiply, divide)
-Attention to Detail-thoroughness and accuracy when accomplishing a task ensuring all aspects are reviewed.
-Adaptability-adapts to changes in the work environment
-Ability to identify and classify defects
-Ability to properly draw in ends

AUTHORIZED TRAINING TIME:

8 Weeks for Certification

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:  FREQUENCY, AMOUNT, OR DESCRIPTION

Standing
:  Approx. 11 hours/day spent monitoring and operating weave machines

Sitting
:  Break time (75 mins/day)               

Moving
:  Continuous from machine to machine 11 hrs./day

Lifting: 
To locate filling packages to creel (1-18lbs.) 300 times/day.  

Climbing: 
To reach walk boards on approximately 100 machines continuously/6 inches high.

Push/Pull/Reach: 
Reaching over harnesses to repair warp breaks. To get packages off filling trees. When working on back of machine to reduce mat up. Distance =3 feet.

Bending: 
To repair warp stops.

Visual Acuity: 
Must be able to see defects in fabric.

Other: 
Must comply with the Company rules, including but not limited to Safety, Attendance, and other job specifications.     

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This job operates in a manufacturing facility. This position regularly works around moving mechanical parts and powered industrial vehicles. Noise level is generally loud.
