Key Responsibilities:

Assist in various preparatory and scrubbing tasks under the supervision of surgical personnel, ensuring optimal patient care in the operating room.Maintain a sterile environment by utilizing aseptic techniques during the preparation of surgical materials and equipment.Act as a scrub assistant during surgical procedures, demonstrating knowledge of diverse surgical techniques.Ensure the operating room is ready for each procedure, which includes setting up equipment and maintaining a clean workspace.Communicate effectively with staff regarding any equipment or supply issues.Transport patients and manage equipment as necessary.Oversee the maintenance of specialty carts, ensuring all items are available and in working condition.Perform patient positioning and transportation duties, adhering to proper lifting techniques.Exhibit knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care to patients.Understand growth and development principles to assess and interpret patient needs effectively.

Licensure and Certification:

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required within six months unless otherwise determined by leadership.

Educational Requirements:

Enrollment in an accredited Surgical Technology program is required.

Experience:

No prior experience is necessary.

Skills and Abilities:

Familiarity with aseptic techniques and surgical equipment.Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.Basic proficiency in computer usage.

Physical Demands:

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and high-stress environment.Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist and 20 lbs. overhead.Must be able to carry up to 40 lbs. over a reasonable distance.Ability to push/pull with 30 lbs. of force and perform sliding transfers with assistance.Exposure to various hazards including mechanical, electrical, and biological materials.Must possess functional sight and hearing, and adhere to safety protocols by wearing appropriate protective gear.Frequent movement required, including sitting, standing, walking, lifting, and bending.
