A Research Assistant position is available at the Center for Cell and Gene Therapy, Baylor College of Medicine. A candidate will assist with performing experiments in animal models of human cancer to select best cell therapy candidates for clinical translation to Phase 1 clinical trials. Models include cell line xenografts, patient-derived xenografts (PDX), and humanized mouse models. The candidate would join a dynamic, diverse, and experienced team of scientists passionate about translational research and clinical trials.
Job Duties
Collaborate with investigators to initiate and follow-up in vivo experiments (e.g., IVIS imaging, weight measurements). Generate and maintain patient-derived xenograft models. Generate and maintain mice with a humanized hematopoietic system ("humanized mice"). Arrange transfer of animals from the breeding colony and maintain colony database. Assist with writing reports and manuscripts and present at scientific meetings. Lead an independent project (optional). Log and maintain experimental notes.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or a related field. Three years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in basic science or a related field. Experience in developing and evaluating new experimental CAR-T therapies to inform translation to Phase I clinical trials.
