The Consumer and Community Bank, Data Use Governance team plays a key role in helping data users (for example, business, analytics and modeling teams) leverage consumer data to develop state-of-the-art technologies and leverage data to deliver customer-centric products and services. The team supports the Consumer Data Use Council (CDUC), which assesses the proposed uses of consumer data and implements firmwide data use risk management and best practices . The Data Management Lead - Consumer Data Use role is a highly collaborative position that requires excellent communication skills, as well as, an interest in technology, risk mitigation, data governance and analytics.
As an Data Management Lead , you will coordinate with business teams and partners from Controls, Legal, Compliance and Risk to evaluate data use requests and present those assessments to the CCB Chief Data and Analytics Officer. You will have the unique opportunity to work with teams from across the firm as they develop some of the most innovative and novel uses of data to implement marketing campaigns, develop digital platforms, integrate novel technologies into the customer experience, design fraud mitigation, leverage third-party/vendors, and evaluate the use of consumer data across other lines of business and business functions.
Within our governance review process, you're required to work with your partners to identify legal risks (UDAAP, Fair Lending, Privacy), contractual risk (partnership and third party), operational risks (data architecture, metadata and access) and reputational risks (customer or regulatory expectations). You will work with the requesters and Control Partners to identify these risks, design control frameworks to mitigate those risks, and escalate issues to appropriate leadership within the firm.
Job Responsibilities:

  • Work with internal clients (such as Digital, Marketing, Consumer Banking, Modeling and management) to evaluate data use requests and identify any necessary business requirements, guardrails, conditions or controls;
  • Assist clients to implement projects and viable solutions that align with firmwide data risk management and governance ;
  • Prioritize data use requests against product roadmaps and key deadlines, project go-live dates and risk assessments;
  • Coordinate review with key stakeholders;
  • Present data request overviews and risks to key stakeholders and senior management;
  • Update status reporting on a weekly basis; and
  • Draft and update process documents related to the Data Use Council review process.


Required Qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Bachelor's degree in business, legal, privacy, data management or related field with 5-7 years' experience in those fields
  • Proven success working with a variety of internal/external teams at various levels of management
  • Ability to work independently and develop creative ways to achieve goals
  • Experience with technical concepts and working with technical staff as needed
  • Knowledge of PII, metadata and other data management concepts
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint
  • Proven ability to influence and communicate with stakeholders across functions
  • Analytical and Project Management Skills - individual must have excellent analytical, problem-solving and time management and organizational skills to handle multiple projects and priorities; must be able to quickly and effectively respond to rapidly changing business needs; must be a self-starter.
  • Communications Skills - Possess excellent verbal and written communications skills, ability to synthesize details and present summaries to executive-level audiences;
  • Leadership and Interpersonal Skills - Excellent professional presence with the ability to interact and influence colleagues at all levels in the business; able to collaborate in team environment with team members, business leads and Control Partners ; experience and comfort with fast-paced environment.
  • Prior experience in Data Governance, Legal, Privacy, Risk, Audit or Compliance is a plus
