Duties may include, but are not limited to:
Incumbent performs specialized treatment of complex physical or mental illness.
Incumbent incorporates complex multiple causation in differential diagnosis and treatment of veteran patients, including making psychosocial and psychiatric diagnoses within approved clinical privileges or scope of practice.
The incumbent provides clinical services and psychosocial evaluations to the veteran patients with substance abuse disorders referred for treatment at OSAC , establishes treatment plans and goals, and develops rehabilitation plans.
Interviews assigned veteran patients to establish facts about the veteran's situation, presenting problems and the impact of such problems on the veteran's functioning and health.
Incumbent communicates an understanding of disturbing, if normal responses to abnormal environments of violence and combat milieu. Interprets and explains VA's treatment and benefit programs.
Incumbent evaluates the veteran's psychosocial functioning, including the veteran's reaction and ability to deal with it, and arrives at a reasoned conclusion. Based on the psychosocial assessment, incumbent uses professional judgment and practice skills to make psychosocial diagnoses.
Incumbent assesses at-risk factors and develops a preliminary disposition plan involving the veteran and family or significant others. Incumbent performs insightful assessment of serious and complicated cases involving illness, psychiatric conditions, catastrophic medical conditions, dementia and other high-risk diagnoses.

: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
