Lilly Neuroscience is seeking a highly motivated Senior Biologist to join the Pain and Neuronal Health discovery biology group to facilitate its mission of discovering novel medicines for the treatment of Chronic Pain Conditions. The individual will be focused on generation, optimization, and validation of custom, MSD-brand ELISAs, performing various cell based in vitro assays, characterization of gene engineered rodent models. The ideal candidate must possess an exceptional attention to scientific detail, a keen interest in understanding pathophysiology of chronic pain, and be highly collaborative within the lab and across the groups.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, validate, and optimize MSD-ELISAs across a variety of matrices
Handle and process tissue samples from diverse preclinical models as well as human samples.
Conduct molecular and cellular-based assays such as ddPCR, qPCR, RNAscope, IHC, FLIPR, cAMP or luciferase assays.
Develop binding assays with utilization of isotopes
Generate and characterize stable cell lines and process cell culture samples.
Problem-solving skills and creativity with a willingness to independently search and review scientific literature
Maintain laboratory notebooks in compliance with company policies
Strong organizational and communication skills with attention to detail
Independent and critical thinking with ability to multitask, desire to learn new techniques and taking on new challenges
Understand and adhere to standard operating procedures (SOP's) in an industrial setting.
Develop highly effective partnerships with discovery colleagues and deliver high-quality data in timely manner
Basic Qualifications:Master's degree in biology, molecular biology or related sciences with 1+ years of experience in molecular and cellular biology. Experience in an industrial setting is a preferred.
Additional Skills/Preferences:Working knowledge of ELISA, MSD, and assay optimization and validation
Computer skills including a working knowledge of MS-Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint is required)
Proficiency in graphing software GraphPad
Expertise in molecular biology with a focus on quantitative PCR and digital PCR
Expertise in tissue collection and sectioning including sciatic nerve, dorsal root ganglia, sympathetic ganglia, spinal cord and brain
Must be eligible to work with rodents and demonstrated basic husbandry skills
Demonstrates exceptional ability to work with fellow team members to schedule, coordinate, and execute high-quality molecular biology studies.
Flexibility and adaptability to a changing work environment with changing priorities.
Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and time-management skills.
