Associate Director - Fannin County Family Connection [FCFC]

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Associate Director [AD] has both internal and external duties for the organization.  The Associate Director partners closely with the Executive Director and plays a critical role as counselor, advisor, and strategic thought-partner for the Executive Director [ED].  She/he also works to create high engagement from the staff, board, partners, and donors.  Along with the Executive Director, the Associate Director will be a key external face of FCFC in the community.

The AD plays a critical role in implementing the organization’s strategy, including oversite of programs, operations, event planning and fundraising.  In addition, the AD works with the Executive Director to develop and implement tactics to maximize synergies among new and existing programs. She/he participates in the annual planning and budgeting process.

The AD will be a focused and process-minded leader with experience in developing a culture of continuous learning and process improvement among a group of diverse, talented individuals.  She/he must be independent, highly organized, and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills with a keen attention to detail, all the while effectively managing multiple projects, programs, and budgets. 

Applicants should understand non-profit best practices, human resource best practices, non-profit regulatory compliance and a solid understanding of office and information technology.

This position is based in Blue Ridge, Fannin County, Georgia.  Night and weekend work and occasional regional travel are required.

General Responsibilities

Reinforce organization impact, communications, information management, and preparedness. Act as a spokesperson for the organization as required. Manage all aspects of event planning, fundraising and social media communications. Actively participate with the Finance Committee and Treasurer. Attend and participate in Board and Executive Committee meetings. Attend staff, committee, regional, state, and other relevant meetings as necessary. Coordinate volunteer program, including volunteer recruitment. Provide various office duties to include telephone, paper, and email communications. Assist in promoting a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and commitment to quality.

Organizational Leadership

Participate in the preparation of required service data tracking, quarterly reports, surveys, and yearly self-assessment. Plan and participate in the annual Civic Dinner and conduct follow up data analyses. Assist in preparation and presentation of the Annual Plan to state leadership and supervise the implementation of the plan adhering to all Regional Calendar deadlines. Facilitate and coordinate the work of the monthly collaborative and its partners. Facilitate with partners in developing strategies based on the findings from population, social, economic and health and well-being data. Ensure FCFC programming and internal culture, policies and procedures align with industry standard practices for diversity, inclusion, and engagement. Work with and support the Executive Director, the Chair of the Finance Committee and outreach staff to develop and implement strategies around external communications, marketing, website, and donor database.

Resource Management

Assist in leading and developing key employees. Assist in implementing a professional development program to address experience and skill gaps while helping staff members to receive timely and appropriate training and development. Recruit, hire and oversee training and orientation of all volunteer and committee members.  Assist in the development of long-term strategies for organizational staffing and structure to ensure FCFC’s current and future needs are met.

Fundraising

As a non-profit organization, FCFC is dependent upon a diversified and successful fundraising plan.  With the assistance of the ED and the Board of Directors, the AD will manage and implement the fundraising plan.

Assist with the development of a strategic long-term fundraising plan.   Manage the plan on a day-to-day basis. Participate in fundraising for general administration, programs, site development and capital improvement through donor appeals, capital campaigns, special events, and assisting grant writing. Manage fundraising events and lead direct mail, social media, and other fundraising efforts. Conduct grant research, writing and submission in collaboration with the Executive Director and committee chairs.

Skills, Education and Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in human services, Non-Profit or Public Administration, Marketing, Business, or related field. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple demands. Experience working with people of diverse backgrounds, including children, the elderly, and all cultural backgrounds with the ability to be adaptable.  Experience in human resources policies and procedures and/or with compensation and benefits. Experience in nonprofit fundraising. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Experience working with volunteers, non-profit and community-based organizations. Technologically savvy, including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, and Canva

Additional Requirements

Must have or be able to obtain a valid driver’s license. Must have reliable transportation and be willing to use a personal vehicle (with mileage reimbursement provided). Must be able to pass a background check.
