We are seeking a motivated individual to join our team as a Payroll Specialist, at the Corporate Office. The purpose of this position is to assist in processing payroll for American Crystal Sugar Co and Sidney Sugars Inc. Verifies all payroll processes and coordinates all other necessary activities to ensure accurate and timely wage payments to employees within company policies and the collective bargaining agreement.

The Payroll Specialist reports to the Senior Payroll Specialist who provides work direction and training in the use of payroll related computer systems and payroll processes used in the completion of payroll duties.

PAYROLL PROCESSING DUTIES:
Lead and promote a positive work culture through Company Values of Safety, Integrity, Quality, Teamwork, and Accountability.Process employee changes, such as time reporting, reciprocity, tax election, payment election, W-4s information, and other miscellaneous tasks prior to payroll processesReviews and follow up on employees on leaveAuditing of Workday's time integration includes review of the data to ensure accuracy of time worked and cost centers charged and consistency with company policies regarding all wage payments to employees. This includes review of each employee's time records in Workday by balancing and reconciling various reportsProcesses and verifies the accuracy of period and prior pay period adjustments. Any corrections to pay require proper authorization by supervisorReviews, audits, and guides employees as needed on the employee self-service functions in WorkdayCoordinates printing and distribution of paychecksVoids and reissues payroll checks as necessary, and coordinates stop paymentProcesses wage verifications for employee wages to financial institutions, county social service agencies, social security administration and state unemployment agenciesReceives, processes, and follow up on all Child Supports, Federal/State Levies and Wage garnishments and other court ordered documentsResponds to factory supervisor and/or employee questions regarding payroll issuesPerforms other duties as assignedWorks overtime as required

To be successful in this position requires general knowledge and experience of payroll functions and integrated computer systems normally gained through the completion of a two-year degree in a related field or through equivalent work experience in accounting and payroll activities. Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel is required. Knowledge of SAP and Workday is preferred. Position requires a high degree of accuracy and excellent organizational skills.
