About the Role:

Primary responsibilities of this position are to analyze and interpret tax regulations and prepare required tax reports so that the organization meets its employment tax obligations and objectives. Maintain tax information and records, including reviewing and reconciling tax returns and other required reports so they are submitted accurately and on time. Analyze and interpret tax laws and regulations, communicating changes that impact the organization. Manage cross border employee tax data and work with external consultants on data they need to prepare employee tax returns. Prepare correspondence with external tax agencies and auditors.
Manage the preparation, review, and timely filing of payroll tax activities, consistently ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.Balancing the deposits and filing of local, state, and federal payroll tax returns, including annual filings.Assist with W-2 processing, including quarter-end and year-end adjustments and amendments.Coordination and management of tax audits; including compiling necessary information upon initiation of audit and maintaining Power of Attorney, third-party access where necessary.Manage cross border employee tracking, completing appropriate government forms and working with our external consultants who file our employee tax returns.Perform tax research for transactional tax matters; notices received from local, state, and federal government tax authorities, third party vendors, and internal customers.Maintain active communication of tax results and issues including maintaining an issues log and refunds due the company.Play a lead role in the testing and implementation of patches and upgrades for all employment tax related systems.Assist with continuous process improvements and integration of various aspects of the tax function to achieve optimal efficiency, effective controls, and quality.Develop and maintain relationships with the Finance team to increase understanding of the business and keep current with other changes/activities that may affect tax.Play a lead role in the integration of acquisitions or divestitures including, but not limited to tax set up within the system, testing and opening or changing paperwork with tax authorities.Identify and solve root causes of discrepancies in payroll and tax related matters.Partner with Senior Payroll Analyst on Third-Party sick payments regarding Federal and State Unemployment Insurance.

Support coordination, planning and scheduling of new and existing tax projects; serve as a subject matter expert and communicate status, define, and track milestones by developing project plans, along with effective collaboration with all affected areas of the organization.General Ledger reconciliation of payroll tax accounts.Maintain a positive relationship with current Outsourced Tax Vendor, raising and quickly resolving outstanding Tax TicketsBe an active participant in any tax related projects, including vendor selection and implementation of outsourced Tax Vendor

About You:

Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, finance or a related discipline or equivalent experience is required.3-5 years of tax experience in Payroll for a large, multi-state employerStrong knowledge of payroll tax lawsExperience working with Workday preferred.
