Job Summary: The Postdoctoral Fellow provides for an internship and continuation of scholarly activity and research after achieving the PhD or other doctoral degree under the direction of a senior faculty member who serves as a mentor for the postdoctoral appointee.

The Alabama Transportation Institute (ATI) is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to join its team. In particular ATI is looking for a postdoc to lead and support a range of transportation research efforts focused on transportation efficiency and equity, including operation of public transportation networks, disaster evacuation, and rural healthcare access. The postdoctoral appointment will be in the Department of Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering (CCEE) and all work will be performed under the direction of ATI.

Successful candidates will hold terminal degrees and demonstrate a record of academic achievement in a research area or areas covered by the College. The College and or hiring department will establish a series of structured merit-based evaluations. Initial appointments are for one year, with renewal contingent upon demonstration of research productivity.

Required Minimum Qualifications: Doctorate. Additional qualifications based on assignment.

Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. or other terminal degree in Civil Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering and the successful candidate must show a significant interest and expertise in transportation-focused research.

Candidates will need to have completed their Ph.D. or have completed all degree requirements by the start of employment. Skills and Knowledge: Established record of peer-reviewed publications in the transportation field.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in international transportation in low- and middle-income countries.
