Paratransit Dispatcher Job Opening
Overview:
Assist in the efficient and timely planning, scheduling, coordinating, and monitoring of all vehicle movements in accordance with contractual obligations and company policies and procedures. Communicate clearly, professionally and in a timely manner with company employees. Represent the company to its customers and the public in a professional and courteous manner.
Responsibilities:
Reviews manifests, schedules, and dispatches drivers.
Accurately enter information into VDS, or designated software, as instructed.
Fill open runs or make driver or trip reassignments to ensure timely service.
Manages On Time Performance by maintaining awareness of open runs and upcoming late trips; making adjustments as necessary.
Maintains records, logs, and schedules of the calls received to schedule transit services, drivers dispatched, fare collection, and customer cancellations or no-shows.
Accurately prepares reports on all activities occurring during their shifts or as requested.
Directs drivers through radio contact; follow procedures upon drivers’ reports of incidents.
Follows rules and regulations of the Company; follows instructions of management and supervisors.
May be required to be an Operator on open shifts that are not covered.
Adheres to all regulations related to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
Provides transit information to passengers as needed; providing friendly, professional customer service interaction; answers calls from clients and schedule services via reservations.
Handles passengers’ personal property left on vehicles in accordance to Lost and Found procedures.
Properly record driver absences, late arrivals, early departures.
Communicates with Scheduling, Reservations, Operations to ensure safe, timely service.
Maintains confidentiality of passenger’s information.
Perform dispatch window and/or clerical functions as relief.
Other duties as assigned.
Education, Licensing, and Certifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent, such as GED, required.
Experience:
- One year of dispatch and/or customer service experience preferred.
Skills and Knowledge Required:
Ability to organize logical and efficient schedules and routes and adapt to changes.
Ability to read, comprehend and understand a map.
Ability to read, understand, and interpret transit system operating rules, regulations, policies, phases and routes.
Ability to assist passengers when needed.
Working knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint programs.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Clear speech and pleasant phone demeanor.
Ability to use a multi-line phone system and handle multiple tasks concurrently.
Ability to interact professionally with internal and external customers on all levels and be able to work well with diverse groups.
