SUMMARY: This position will work collaboratively in a cross-discipline technical team of engineers, programmers, designers, and technicians in the development and implementation of control systems for all Tyson facilities. The candidate will be skilled in manufacturing automation design, integration, troubleshooting, engineering, programming, and consulting. The candidate will have exceptional problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently and in team environments. They will be proactive, resourceful & highly motivated with good communication skills and ability to work in a high output environment.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education: A Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or Information Systems or equivalent experience.
Experience: At least 4 years of control engineering experience with advanced knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA control systems. The candidate should have a background in reading electrical control schematics & instrumentation.
Computer Skills: Windows Operating Systems, Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, SAP
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate technical information to all levels of understanding.
Travel: 5-7 trips per year. Engineer should be willing to travel to job site for start-up of control systems.
Special Skills: The successful candidate should be able to accomplish systems analysis tasks across the Tyson enterprise; have advanced knowledge of control systems design; be able to complete complex tasks within project time constraints; and be willing to support installed control systems for emergency purposes outside of normal business hours.
- 4+ year of manufacturing experience.
- Experience with instruments in the food processing industry
- Experience with Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) operations, wiring, and configuration.
- Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) operations, wiring, and programming. Schneider Modicon platform preferred.
- Experience with Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs) operations, and programming. Inductive Automation Ignition preferred.
- Basic understanding of database management/maintenance and SQL. Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL preferred.
- Experience with installation and implementation of process controls networks such as Ethernet/IP.
- Basic understanding of Ethernet networks and troubleshooting techniques.
- Familiarity with ISO 13849 Safety Standard
- Understanding of electrical control design principles.
- Food processing knowledge and control experience a plus
