Job Summary

UT Tyler University Academy at Palestine Campus is looking to build a pool of candidates for substitute teachers. As openings become available, applicants will be selected for interviews. This position will engage with students through the teaching of the assigned subject during a teacher's absence. They will utilize the teacher's scheduled lesson plans to facilitate and monitor student's during class.

 

 

Major Responsibilities/Duties/Critical Tasks

Facilitate/monitor students during class and other school activities.
Complete daily attendance records.

 

Required Education/Experience

High School Diploma or equivalent
General subject content knowledge.
General knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior.
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

 

Preferred Education/Experience

Some college hours or associate degree preferred.

 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Competencies

Effectively manage classroom behavior, maintain order, and establish a learning environment that mirrors that of the regular teacher.
The ability to quickly adapt to different grade levels, subject matter, and classroom routines.
Effective communication with students, teachers, and administrative staff.

 

Other Information

The employee will be on an as-needed basis, not to exceed 19.5 hours per week, for the instructional days defined by University Academy District Calendar.
