Radio Technician

Radio Technician is responsible for installing, troubleshooting and repairing communications equipment. Individual must be experienced with trunked radio systems, repeaters, spread spectrum technology, portable/mobile radios, antenna systems and other appropriate communication tools. (Experience with Motorola equipment is preferred). May be required to take additional formal training.

• Follows all Safety Procedures and processes and demonstrates support for all safety programs and initiatives.
• Works closely with radio associates, customers, and vendor representatives.
• Performs housekeeping in the work area and shop as required.
• Performs preventive maintenance as needed. Initiates preventive maintenance on new equipment and reviews existing preventive maintenance plans for completeness.
• Performs system troubleshooting and repairs.
• Initiates and maintains current record of systems, equipment, and generates required reports.
• Performs duties on overtime as necessary.
• Often works alone or as a trainer for a trainee.

• Requires a FCC General Radiotelephone Operator License or equivalent.
• Associate's degree or 5 years' previous experience in electronics or related field is required.
• Demonstrated ability to read schematics and block diagrams.
• Must identify and use proper test equipment and procedures to troubleshoot DC and RF circuits.
• Familiarity with SAP for parts, material and services.
• Familiarity with emergency command communications.
• Basic level computer skills including MS Word and MS Excel.
• Requires the ability to climb towers and ride a bicycle.
• Required to work holdovers, scheduled overtime, and callouts as needed.
• Installation & Troubleshooting of Whelen Siren Notification System
• Operate Equipment (JLG, Scissor Lift, Bucket Truck & Forklift)
• Be Familiar with Cell and Radio BDA installation
• Support T/A activities (Installation of Audio, Communication & Video Req)
• Troubleshoot & Repair Avtec Console Equipment
• Installation, troubleshoot and repair of building Emergency Notification System
• Repair Motorola Radios to Board Level.
