Duties

This is your opportunity to support Treasury in promoting economic prosperity and ensuring the financial security of the United States. Internships at Treasury give students a unique opportunity to:
Gain substantive career experience related to your academic interests, Acquire lifelong leadership, management, and analytical skills, Explore different career avenues in the public sector, Build professional relationships, contacts, and networks, and Observe the daily operations and working environment of a cabinet-level federal agency. While duties and responsibilities will vary by office assignment, examples of potential duties include: Collecting, analyzing, and presenting data in support of policy priorities Researching and summarizing academic literature and news pertinent to mission areas Drafting talking points, briefing materials, and reports for Treasury leaders and stakeholders Attending and reporting on relevant Congressional hearings, official meetings, and conferences in and outside of government Interacting with Treasury colleagues and other U.S. government agencies on relevant matters Organizing high-level meetings and/or conferences Contributing to key management functions and initiatives, such as budget formulation; strategic planning and organizational performance evaluation; human capital planning; information technology system launches and upgrades; and web content management.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Internship might be available REMOTE or in PERSON. Maintain student status throughout internship. (Be actively enrolled or accepted at an accredited institution) Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, and if you are a male applicant born after December 31, 1959, to certify that you have registered with the Selective Service System or are exempt from having to do so. Successfully complete a background investigation within the requested timeframe. Students must be able to intern for 10 consecutive weeks as per listed in the vacancy. Students must be able to work from 08:00 am to 5:00 pm, either in a Part time (20 Hrs.) or Full Time Schedule (40 Hrs).
KEY REQUIREMENTS Must be a U.S. Citizen Must pass Background Investigation/Security Clearance Actively enrolled at least part-time in a Department of Education accredited institution. Must be in good academic standing (2.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale) If selected to work in DC, RELOCATION AND HOUSING EXPENSES ARE PAID BY STUDENT If selected to work remote, must have home computer or laptop. Must be able to work 20+ hours a week. Must be able to intern for 10+ straight weeks.

Qualifications

We are looking for students who possess a genuine desire to learn about government and public policy. They must also possess basic understanding and skills to perform a variety of tasks relating to activities in the areas of finance, federal regulation, domestic and international economic issues, legal and policy guidance, congressional relations, management/operations, or Information Technology/Information Systems (IT/IS). Additionally, preference will be given to students who possess the following qualities:
Perform well in a team environment, Strong written and oral communication skills, Excellent interpersonal skills, with an ability to tackle a variety of assignments simultaneously and meet rigorous schedules and tight deadlines, Attention to detail, and Working knowledge of computer applications such as Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, Visio, etc.
