Overview:

The Room Service Server safely and efficiently provides excellent customer service with a smile  We want our guests to feel good about their dining experience so that they will tell others and become a loyal customer.  We expect and encourage you to go out of your way to talk to guests and find out what their needs are before they have to ask you. 

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Pick up an in house guest list for each shift, provided by Guest Services

Greet guest with excellent customer service and phone etiquette, i.e., answer phone within 3 rings and greet guests with good morning/etc., thanks for calling Room Service, this is __________, how may I assist you?

Know menu, menu prices, composition of food and beverage menu items; familiarity with all daily specials and with proper plating procedures

Up-sell/suggestively sell food and beverages by describing each item in an appealing way to increase check average

Offer, sell and obtain beverage and meal orders and give to kitchen staff for preparation; make sure guests have everything they need; offer newspaper if it is morning

Ring in order on the POS

Confirm the order by repeating back and clarify any doubts, food allergies or guest’s conerns before sending the order to the kitchen

Give the guest an estimated time of arrival of the order and thank them for calling room service

Set up delivery tray with placemat, liner paper, rolled silverware, water glass, condiments needed, and guest bill on check presenter

Keep clean plate covers ready and cover plates as order is finished by the kitchen and ready for delivery

When arrive tat guest room, knock on the door 3 times and say “Room Service.” Wait for guest to open door; if no response, repeat process

Once guest opens the door, introduce yourself and ask permission to come in; if permission is granted, thank them, guest and come in quickly

Ask the guest where to place the tray with the order. Once the tray is placed on a secure surface, ask guest if they want you to remove the plate cover

Review the order with the guest, confirming the items on the tray

Inquire as to whether something else is needed; if they have everything, present the bill and, if applicable, clarify the automatic gratuity has been added to the bill already

Invite the guest to call room service for collection on completion of meal, or any other request; thank them, and wish them a pleasant meal

Close the guest check to the appropriate form of payment and file on a safe place until end of shift

Stock supplies on a daily basis: include condiments, plates, glassware, silverware, trays, napkins, flowers, printer paper, check presenters and pens

Clean and stock room service refrigerators with juices, sodas, waters and milk

Clean delivery carts on a daily basis

Perform tray pick up runs every hourBenefits
