Job Description

As a Forklift Operator, you will be responsible for moving raw material metal and finished bales of metal around our facility using a standard propane forklift. Your duties will include:

  • Moving pallets with cubes (4by4ft) of metal for loading onto machines or outbound trucks.

  • Operating sit-down forklifts with attachments for clamp truck, long fork, and tilting.

  • The role involves simple, safe operation of the forklift and its attachments.

  • While forklift operation is your main function, you may occasionally be required to assist with general cleaning and labor due to our small team size.

Shift & Pay

  • 1st Shift (M-F): 7am-4pm with over time on Saturdays as needed

  • 1st Shift (M-TH): 530am-430pm with over time on Fridays as needed.

  • $18-21, based upon experience

Job Type

  • This is a Contract-to-Hire position with a duration of 18 Week(s).

Work Site

  • This is a fully on-site position located on the East side of Indianapolis, Indiana.

Work Environment

  • You will be working in a metal sorting and packaging operation environment.

  • We do NOT do any melting of metals, so the facility stays cooler than typical metal manufacturing environments.

  • It is not temperature controlled and will be 10-15 degrees cooler than outside during the summer.

  • The front half of the facility is a basic warehouse and sorting operation and the back of the plant hosts our baling machines.

  • The area near the machines can be loud, so hearing protection is recommended.

  • Required PPE includes steel toes, safety glasses, and safety gloves.

  • We require long pants made of denim or work material.
