Summary

These Physician (Emergency Medicine) positions are located within the Great Plains Area IHS. There MAY NOT be immediate vacancies at all locations. Interested applicants should check with the local Administrative Office concerning immediate employment needs. The purpose of this position is to provide comprehensive care to pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients within the Great Plains Area.



Duties

  • Handles all emergencies presented to the Emergency Room.
  • Assignments cover the full range of general to complex emergency room cases such as injuries caused by automobile accidents, assaults with weapons, other accidents which may cause serious harm. Incumbent stabilizes the patient and examines the patient to determine the seriousness of the illness or trauma. Makes preliminary diagnosis, directs, prescribes or provides relatively new treatment regimens, or arranges for specialized care or patient referral as required.
  • Records patient-provider transactions in the problem oriented medical record format and completes required data collection instruments, referrals, and medical records as required.
  • Fully participates in medical staff functions such as medical program review, quality assurance activities, and organizational functions including attending meetings and accepting committee assignments.
