Responsibilities
- Documents nursing assessments and patient teaching in the patient chart. Communicates all pertinent information and any interventions to the physician
- Assures nursing charges are accurate and complete on patient fee slips
- Provide professional nursing care for patients following established standards and practices
- Acts as a resource person to the medical assistants
- Triages patient phone calls as needed and documents relevant information in the patient's chart
- Assesses patient/family needs and provides teaching and other instructional material
- Demonstrates awareness of community resources available to patients and assists with referrals if necessary
- Manages patient medication refill requests from the pharmacy
- Participates in professional development activities and maintain professional affiliations
- Works closely regarding patient care needs for clinic patients being seen by both MD's and APP
- Provides psychosocial and emotional support to patients as well as providing referral to appropriate resources
- Provides detailed education for both IV and oral chemotherapy
- Maintains patient confidentiality
- Administration of chemotherapy and other therapeutic drugs
- Maintains efficient and appropriate patient flow in clinic
- Facilitates dose modification by assessing patient and labs, consulting protocol or treatment plan, calculating dose and infusing medications and consulting physician regarding dose modifications, problems, and symptom management
- Assures nursing charges are accurate and complete on charge tickets
- Acts as a resource for MA and LPN staff
- Triages patient phone calls as needed and documents relevant information in patient's chart
- Assesses patient/family needs and provides teaching, instructional materials, and community resource information
- Cross train in the collaborative nursing area as available
Qualifications
- Graduate from an accredited nursing program, BSN preferred
- Current MN licensure and registration required
- Current or pending OCN certification preferred
- Current CPR certification required
- 2-3 years of nursing experience with IV experience preferred
- Knowledge of basic computer programs is also required

Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 40 lbs. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
