YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Analyze large datasets and use statistical techniques to identify patterns and trends that impact insurance and reinsurance credit risk.
- Build, update, monitor and improve upon internal risk models that analyze credit risk.
- Analyze, critique, monitor and expand upon external risk models leveraged within the business that analyze credit risk.
- Design, develop, and refine insurance pricing and cashflow models.
- Promote capital allocation strategies that align with internal risk views while adhering to regulatory frameworks.
- Analyze and interpret stochastic modeling frameworks and their corresponding probability distributions.
- Perform stress testing to adhere to internal and regulatory standards and assess correlations between risk exposures.
- Engage external parties and in independent research to learn industry standard techniques and promote innovative approaches to improve the existing suite of risk models.
- Conduct scenario analysis, sensitivity analysis, what-if analysis, and other types of analysis to assess the potential impact of assumptions on insurance portfolios.
- Provide oversight, review, and effective challenge of credit risk taking across the business.
- Summarize and present analysis of modeled performance and financials to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Write technical documentation that portrays the risks, limitations, and appropriate confidence in a set of modeled results.
- Collaborate with clients to gather necessary credit information and various internal stakeholders including teams in Risk, Finance, Operations, and IT to promote understanding of models and their results.
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS
- Advanced Degree in a quantitative discipline such as Quantitative Finance, Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Data Science, or Actuarial Sciences.
- 7+ years of relevant work experience in analyzing economic or financial data.
- Experience working with financial cashflows and financial metrics such as return on equity.
- Experience with capital modeling across diversified lines of insurance and reinsurance.
- Ability to independently evaluate, draw conclusions, and present findings.
- Experience with mortgage insurance and reinsurance.
- Strong communication, presentation, and collaboration skills that allow for collaboration at all levels within the organization.
- Ability to take complete ownership of projects in a performance and results oriented environment.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Proficiency in data manipulation and analysis via SQL and Excel or a programming language such as Python, R, or SAS
- Experience in insurance or reinsurance pricing with a focus on developing and implementing effective pricing strategies
- Experience working with multiple asset classes
- Experience in underwriting for insurance or reinsurance
- Experience related to structured transactions
