The Portfolio Analyst & Trade Specialist (trader) serves the firm’s investment committee and portfolio managers to ensure the firm’s investment directives and policies are implemented in an accurate and efficient manner.  The trader will be responsible for building and executing block trades with various broker dealers and ensuring proper allocation to client accounts.  The trader will also be responsible for managing and routinely updating the firm’s investment portfolio models in the company’s trade management system.  The trader will assist portfolio managers with regular rebalancing assessments and execution on both a scheduled and an on-request basis. The investment committee will look to the trader to assess current and anticipated market and trading conditions. Further, the trader may consult with FBB’s Director of Research on scenarios for trade structure and timing. 

The trader’s role requires exceptional relationship management skills, financial market awareness, and a general passion for markets. Frequently, this individual will be tasked with small projects that veer outside the day-to-day trading activity which may pertain to other portfolio management and research functions. Finally, an ideal candidate will have an interest in both equity and fixed income markets as the trader will likely spend time reviewing risk management parameters and execution across both.

Duties and Responsibilities

Assist the investment committee with the execution of firm wide portfolio level security positions and allocations, many of the portfolio actions that are made fall on the trader to execute – this must be done in a timely and precise fashion Actively participate in weekly investment committee meetings Successfully cultivate relationships with colleagues across the firm Analyze portfolio level detail across multiple client accounts and assist Portfolio Managers with rebalancing Work through daily routines that help the firm track data pertaining to daily trading activity helping ensure firm compliance

Skills and Qualifications

Undergraduate degree (business/economics/finance preferred) A genuine interest, curiosity and passion for the financial markets Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel is a must Understanding of Bloomberg and other financial analysis software a plus Ability to “train up” quickly on trading execution software which is the backbone of the firm’s trading operations Organized self-starter who can prioritize multiple tasks in real time and work effectively under time sensitive conditions Prior experience in transaction-oriented financial services or investment-related business is a plus General knowledge of investment strategies and processes Possess sound judgment to form independent points of view regarding trading risks and opportunities Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy Team player with proficient writing and group presentation skills, including the ability to clearly and concisely distill complex subjects into actionable scenarios Demonstrate a high degree of skill in client service, relationship building and execution of responsibilities. Punctual and positive, with a can-do professional approach

Compensation and benefits are competitive with industry standards.

Salary and bonus will be commensurate with experience, within a general range of $55,000 to $70,000 per year Benefits include dental, vision, health care, 401(k), life and disability insurance Partial and/or full financial support for professional accreditation/continuing education requirements and other professional/leadership development opportunities available
