Job Summary

The Lead ETL/Business Intelligence Administrator is responsible for the architecture, implementation and support of enterprise-wide data migration, data science, data visualization and data analytics platforms. This position partners with existing Analytics and Data Science teams acting as the subject matter expert and technical lead to develop critical data pipelines for making real-time decisions and business recommendations.

Works closely with project managers, Directors and application developers in creating functional and scalable solutions for business clients.  Ideal candidate would have passion for and knowledge of data-engineering, big data framework, and distributed computing. Ideal candidate has expertise in designing solutions using sqoop, hive, hdfs, spark, Impala, Python and R. This position is responsible for solving complex data issues and perform root cause analysis to proactively resolve product and operational issues.  Approaches work with security first mindset, adheres to stringent L.A. Care security standards and drives the same level of standards from the team. Responsible for the daily workflow and leading the work of assigned staff.  This role will mentor, coach, act as a resource and provide feedback on performance of assigned staff.Duties

Mentor and act as a resource to other DBAs, in a distributed environment, in the installation, modification and operational capabilities of ETL Informatica, Data Science (Cloudera), SAS, Data warehouse and Business Intelligence (Informatica, OBIEE) environments.

Drive Big Data Hadoop platform vision for the entire organization by delivering end-to-end applications and frameworks that provide value to entire organization.

Design, develop and provide support for ETL and BI platforms which includes configuration, planning, tuning, database creations, monitoring, and troubleshooting.

Evaluate and seek solutions to production issues as well as new projects.  Work closely with applications developers in solving production issues.

Partner with existing Analytics and Data Science teams acting as the subject matter expert and technical lead to develop critical data pipelines for making real-time decisions and business recommendations

Prepare short and long term plans to address infrastructure projects as well as support to and technical leadership for internally/externally sponsored company projects.

Build and expand on L.A. Care's data platform's Hadoop clusters within an agile collaboration environment.

Responsible for automated deployment of Data Science models through CICD based deployments into Cloudera Data Science Workbench and  creates custom docker engines on top of the out of box engines to support the data science team.

Ensure all ETL, Data engineering and BI projects and processes are fully documented.Recommend schedules for database upgrades; assist in the planning and implementation of major software upgrades; adhere to change management procedures and methodologies.Duties ContinuedManages complex projects, engaging and updating key stakeholders, developing timelines, leads others to complete deliverables on time and ensures implementation upon approval.Leads the work of assigned staff; regularly assigns and checks the work of others, providing guidance, training and feedback on performance to department management.  Oversees the daily office workflow, develops and recommends enhancements to process and procedures.  Perform other duties assigned.Education RequiredBachelor's DegreeIn lieu of degree, equivalent education and/or experience may be considered.Education PreferredMaster's DegreeExperience

Required:

At least 6 years of experience in a technical function creating and maintaining software applications with the demonstrated experience on the following list of stated knowledge, experience and/ or skills.

Experience in building Apache open source projects and deploying into container platforms such as Clouder Data Science Workbench.

Experience with source controls such as Github and related development process. Experience with workflow scheduling tools such as oozie and Airflow.

At least 2 years of experience leading process, program, or staff.

Significant experience with Big Data tool sets, TOAD and Shell programming.

Preferred:

Healthcare HMO experience

Experience with MS SQL Server, .NET technologies preferred.Skills

Required:
Expert knowledge in database (Oracle) design, tuning, modeling, ETL, Data warehousing, Business Intelligence and Big Data Technological areas like Cloudera & SAS in multiple computing environments (Unix, Linux, AIX) and must be well versed in Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) tools including Informatica, Oracle PL/SQL programming,  and Business Intelligence tools such as OBIEE.

Expertise in Big Data preferably Cloudera and SAS technologies.

Require extensive development/administration experience with specific hands-on practices in Informatica Powercenter, Informatica Data Replication (Real time replication), Oracle Business Intelligence (OBIEE) Server, BI Answers, BI Dashboard, Cloudera and SAS Administration.

Understand and leverage the Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC),  Partitioning, Replication, Materialized View and Parallel SQL Processing.

Expertise in supporting the SAS Analytic platform and resolving any issues integrating the platform with other applications.

Expertise in installing, configuring and administering R-Studio Connect platform. Expertise in deploying shiny applications to Rstudio-connect platform.

Expertise in optimizing Big data applications written in Spark and hive.

Expertise in designing solutions using sqoop, hive, hdfs, spark , and  Impala. Expertise in data-engineering, big data framework, and distributed computing. Knowledge of creating custom dockers.

Expertise in scripting languages such as Shell and Python, and analytical programming languages such as R.

Able to lead others in solving complex problems by taking a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions.

Strong understanding of solution and technical design.

Able to influence and communicate optimally, both verbally and written, with team members and business partners.

Proven ability in managing Databases in excess of 1TB+ in sizes.

Must be well versed in data modeling, data warehousing, OLAP technology and tools sign tools such as CA/ERWin, ER/Studio, etc.

Must have the ability to code complex PL/SQL packages, functions, and procedures.

Solid communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation) and strong interpersonal skills required.

Ability to accurately set and adhere to deadlines.

Must have a very high ability to learn new things, especially about new technology developments.

Ability to prioritize projects and workload.

High level of independent judgment.

Must be flexible, organized, and able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
