The District's mission is, "to acquire and hold lands containing forests, prairies, wetlands and associated plant communities or lands capable of being restored to such natural conditions for the purpose of protecting and preserving the flora, fauna and scenic beauty for the education, pleasure and recreation of its citizens."
This position is designed for veterinary or veterinary technician students.
Working under the guidance of Willowbrook's veterinary team, students will contribute to providing professional medical care to sick, orphaned, and injured wildlife while receiving on the job training to complement their education.
Current enrollment with completion of the first year (1) of degree in an accredited Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) program OR current enrollment with completion of the first year (1) in an accredited Veterinary Technician Program (CVT, RVT, LVT), and must be in good standing in current program.
Experience with exotic or wildlife medicine preferred.
Basic familiarity with wildlife rehabilitation philosophy.
There is exposure to noxious gases, biohazardous waste, dangerous wildlife, and zoonotic disease.
Location: Willowbrook Wildlife Center in Glen Ellyn, IL.
