Routinely performs inpatient and outpatient musculoskeletal and neuromuscular examinations, determines diagnoses, and initiates treatments that emphasize restoration of function. Works with a team of health care providers to establish a comprehensive rehabilitation program. Different patient populations requiring comprehensive rehabilitation programs include those with electromyography, amputations, spinal cord injury, stroke, traumatic brain injury, musculoskeletal and neuromuscular impairments, and those with chronic severe disabling pain syndromes.

Participates in the following clinical areas as applicable and as assigned, EMG/TBI/Polytrauma/Rehab Injections/Ultrasound based Rehab care/Amputee/Seating/Power Mobility/SCI/Inpatient Consults/CLC Consults and general rehab clinics, provides clinical oversight for PM&Rs therapy sections as needed, under the oversight of the Chief of the PM&Rs Service, to provide a continuum of rehabilitation services.

Prescribes, coordinates, monitors and has the working knowledge of rehab activities of other PM&Rs Service and other related therapy providers including PT, OT, KT, Audiology, SLP, Blind Rehab, Social Work, Psychology, Neuro-Psychology, Compensated Work Therapy, and Rehabilitation Nursing Care.

Assists the Chief PM&Rs in the performance of the PM&Rs programs in the areas of:
1. Resource Utilization
2. Accomplishment of local, VISN and national goals.
3. Safety

May also participate in administrative and quality improvement activities. Assists in administration and other staff in policy development and compliance with JC, CARF and other applicable local and national standards.

Collaborates with the Chief of PM&Rs, other PM&Rs physicians, section chiefs and administrative officer for:
1. Access to care for people with activity limitations, hearing/speech limitations, and participation restrictions.
2. Provision of care that demonstrates value for people with activity limitation, hearing/speech limitations, and participation restrictions.
3. Removal of architectural, environmental, attitudinal, financial, communication, employment, transportation and other barriers to people with disabilities

Oversees and collaborates to ensure that all applicable clinical functions, as assigned by Chief of PM&Rs, EMG/TBI/Polytrauma/Rehab Injections/ Ultrasound based Rehab care /Amputee/Seating/Power Mobility/SCI/Inpatient Consults/CLC Consults and general rehab clinics to this position run efficiently, providing timely and courteous service to all veterans seeking rehabilitative care and that the results are made readily available to the referring practitioners.

Collaborates to ensure coverage, when necessary, in other rehab clinical areas when requested by Chief of PM&Rs.

Prescribes therapeutic exercise programs and prescribe orthotic and prosthetic devices.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm (Subject to change based on agency need).
