Materials Handler

Serves as working leader for a group of Materials Handler (Motor Vehicle Operator) positions. Passes instructions on to other workers. Ensures that needed tools and material are available.
Sees that all workers have enough work. Checks work in progress and completed work for compliance. Answers workers’ questions regarding procedures, policies, written instructions and directions.
Provides information to supervisor on status and progress of work.
Drives trucks with gross vehicle weights from 10 lbs. up to 26,000 lbs. to transport materials, equipment and supplies throughout the installation and on public roads.
Assists with loading and unloading materials.
Performs driver’s maintenance in accordance with established rules and regulations.
Operates receiving dock to receive and direct trucks to unloading bay.
Receives and unloads a wide range of materials using material handling equipment and 4,000 lb. rated forklift to include special attachments as necessary.
Operates security screening (x-ray) equipment and employs established procedures to prevent dangerous objects or substances from being transported into the base populace.
Uses office automation and basic software. Must be able to learn and utilize an automated parcel delivery tracking system.
