The Opportunity

This position works out of our Abbott Park, IL location in the GES Global Engineering Services division.   

The Senior Maintenance Engineer Technician acts as a technical resource for Reliability Engineering and Division interactions. Supports the coordination of major electrical equipment/ building shutdowns. Works closely with Electrical Engineers.

What Youâll Work On

Facility Manufacturing/Maintenance Support:

  • Troubleshoot and assist in repairs of all electrical equipment involving voltages up to 13,200 volts a/c, instrumentation, and processes in the area of responsibility.
  • Recommends and reviews spare parts and preventive maintenance program in assigned area of responsibility. Reviews, recommends, and writes specifications and procedures for all equipment, processes, and facilities in the areas of responsibility.
  • Experience with drives, I/O devices, man-machine interfaces, and ladder logic

Allen Bradley and Modicon Projects:

  • Provides technical information needed to support engineering projects.
  • Plans, coordinates, installs, and performs operational checkouts for all equipment and processes in the assigned area of responsibility.
  • Determines the accuracy of drawings and initiates corrections when discrepancies are found.
  • Supports the development of electrical & safety certification programs in assigned area of responsibility.

Research and Development:

  • Acts as a technical resource for Reliability Engineering and Division interactions. Supports the coordination of major electrical equipment/ building shutdowns. Works closely with Electrical Engineers.
  • Develops statistical and technical experiments to test and analyze new and existing processes, equipment, and facilities.
  • Integrate state of the art technology with existing equipment to improve the process. Designs, provides drawings, and fabricates prototype modifications and test equipment.

Administrative:

  • Must be diplomatic in the leadership and direction of other employees and in the interaction with other departments.
  • Make accurate and concise decisions or recommendations with timing appropriate for the situation to supervisors and/or management regarding problems.
  • Promotes safety consciousness to other employees.
  • Trains other personnel in specific procedures, methods, and operations regarding processes, facilities, and equipment as directed.
  • Reports evaluated test data in the form of verbal, written and formal presentations to supervisors and management for further input.

  • Trains maintenance personnel in specific procedures, methods, and operations regarding electrical line support.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree in electrical engineering technology is preferred or minimum 8 years industrial electrical/controls experience.
  • Must demonstrate mental alertness and a thorough knowledge of basic mechanical, electrical and instrumentation principles.
  • Needs to be capable of interpreting engineering specifications and drawings.
  • Good verbal communication and technical writing ability are necessary. Must be able to read and update engineering drawings.
  • Ability to exercise diplomacy in the leadership and direction of other employees is mandatory.

The base pay for this position is $28.20 â $56.40 per hour. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
