The Actuarial Intern will provide actuarial valuation and plan administration support to private and public sector defined benefit and postretirement medical plans.

Requirements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The following list of duties and responsibilities are examples of the work successful candidates will be asked to perform. Candidates may not be involved with all of these functions as a regular part of their duties.
  1. Preparation of actuarial valuations for pension and postretirement medical plans
  2. Review and update of data for actuarial valuations
  3. Reconciliation of annual asset statement data
  4. Preparation of required IRS and PBGC filings and participant notifications
  5. Calculation of benefits for plan participants
  6. Assist with preparation of special studies and actuarial analysis
  7. Analyze, summarize and create graphical representations of large, complex data sets

Qualifications:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. College students that are enrolled in a degree program related to actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, risk management, or other similar subject matter who has an interest in a career in actuarial science. We do not require a specific number of years of post-high school education but will give preference to those entering senior or junior year of college or enrolled in a post-graduate degree program.

Salary Description

$25/hour
