POSITION: Software Developer Intern

REPORTS TO: Business Applications Manager

REMOTE ELIGIBLE: No LOCATION: Corporate IT

POSITION PURPOSE:

This position will assist in designing, coding, and testing software programs and applications. This includes researching, designing, documenting, and modifying software specifications throughout the software development lifecycle. This role provides dynamic projects in both legacy and cutting-edge technologies. This position is hybrid and will require the individual to be based in the Fargo -Moorhead area . The Software Developer Intern position is expected to be full-time through the summer with a possibility of extension based on performance and company objectives .

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

The Software Developer Intern reports to the Business Applications Manager .

The Software Developer Intern completes the following essential functions within established company and department policies, procedures, deadlines, and budget constraints


Program software solutions according to specified requirements

Test newly written and existing code

Debug newly written and existing code

Maintain existing products


Document source code

Read and analyze software from legacy applications

Utilize task tracking software according to team requirements

Utilize source control tools according to team requirements

Interact effectively with technical and non-technical team members


Assist in the development and maintenance of user manuals and training materials

Maintain confidentiality of company proprietary solutions and information

Perform all other duties as assigned by management in a professional and efficient manner

Follow all safety rules and regulations while performing work assignments and adhere to all policies and procedures as specified in company manuals and as directed in the employee handbook

Provides on-call systems and programming support


Maintain a positive and professional working relationship with peers, management, and support resources, with a constant commitment to teamwork and exemplary customer service

The team works in a highly collaborative manner, so this position satisfies independent work and team collaboration work

Other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:


Enrolled and in good standing within an accredited institution studying Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or similar is preferred

Theoretical u nderstand ing of the SDLC and agile software development methodologies

Experience developing in Java, C#, or other modern object-oriented language

Experience working in a team programming environment preferred


Hands-on software troubleshooting and debugging experience

Fluent in the English language ; both written and spoken

Highly logical with a keen attention to detail

Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities

Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks


Desire and a bility to quickly learn new technologies and methodologies

PHYSICAL CAPABILITIES:

Work Environment: The individual must be able to work in an environment with multiple interruptions, office noise, and competing and changing demands.

Physical Requirements: The individual must be able to, throughout the day, input and access information from the computer system, perform extensive keyboarding functions, type and use the phone system. The individual must be able to climb stairs, bend, kneel and lift 25 pounds.
