Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking an Environmental Scientist to join our Land Development team at our Fort Worth, TX office. Westwood has a highly experienced and dynamic team of individuals dedicated to providing high-level professional services to our clients.
Duties and Responsibilities- Communicating and collaborating with project managers, engineers, clients, and government agencies to conduct critical environmental issues analyses following industry and company standards. This may include:
- Field delineation of wetlands and other waters of the U.S.,
- Section 404 permitting through the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers,
- Conducting tree inventories and preparing tree preservation and mitigation plans,
- Preparing stormwater pollution prevention plans and conduct stormwater inspections,
- Conducting water and soil sampling,
- Conducting Threatened and Endangered species investigations,
- Conducting cultural resource inquiries,
- Conducting Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments,
- Utilizing ArcGIS Pro to prepare GIS-based exhibits and data management,
- Utilizing GPS and GNSS units for field surveying and mapping,
- Function as support staff to existing business lines (land development and oil & gas).
- General project assistance for report preparation, peer-reviews, technical writing guidance, GIS support, and organizational assistance to meet strict deadlines.
- Supporting projects for different markets within Westwood – aviation, land development, renewables and public infrastructure.
- Ability to work in the office and out in the field during all times of the year.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Strong attention to detail, able to clearly communicate verbally, comfortable talking in front of people, excellent written communication skills, and able to respond professionally to both internal and external comments.
- Strong critical thinking, problem solving, technical writing, and research skills.
- Dependable, self-starting team player.
- Organized and able to work effectively in both a team environment and with minimal supervision.
- The ability to interact successfully with co-workers, clients and regulatory agencies is essential.
- Degree in a natural resource-related field.
- Proven ability to work productively on multiple projects simultaneously under strict deadlines.
- Must have the ability to travel periodically to project locations across the State of Texas.
- Must have a valid driver's license and be able to pass a background check and drug screen.
