The South Texas Veterans Health Care System (STVHCS), San Antonio, consists of Audie L. Murphy VA Hospital, our home campus that provides a wide range of services to Veterans in the San Antonio area, a domiciliary for the residential treatment of substance use disorders, and numerous outpatient clinics with embedded mental health assets spread throughout the greater San Antonio area. Interventional Psychiatry and other unique treatment modalities (ECT, rTMS, esketamine) are offered at many of our clinical sites. We are home to a team of highly skilled and experienced professionals who are passionate about providing our Veterans with the best possible care.

About the Position
We are currently seeking a psychiatrist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong clinical background in psychiatry and experience working with Veterans.

Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive psychiatric care to Veterans, including diagnosis, treatment, and medication management.Collaborate with other members of the healthcare team to develop and implement treatment plans.Educate Veterans and their families about mental health conditions and treatment options.Participate in resident education, research, and quality improvement initiatives.QualificationsMD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.Board certification in psychiatry.Valid state medical license.Experience working with Veterans (preferable but not required).BenefitsCompetitive salary and benefits package.Positions may be eligible for part-time telework upon supervisor approval.Excellent work-life balance.Opportunities for professional development and advancement.The opportunity to work with our nation's heroes.VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package. Recruitment Incentive (Sign-on Bonus): May be eligible for highly qualified applicants.
Permanent Change of Station (Relocation Assistance): May be eligible for highly qualified applicants.
Education Debt Reduction Program (Student Loan Repayment): This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases
Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)
Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA
Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)
Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory
CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification)
Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided
Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting

Work Schedule: Generally Monday - Friday (8:00 am to 4:30 pm) but may vary by work area. Final work tours/schedules are set in collaboration between physicians and supervisors. This position also includes infrequent on-call/weekend and holiday rounding as needed by the medical center.Reasons to Work in San Antonio
