Duties

This position is 100% telework. This position requires the employee to provide their own workspace within KY (Lexington and Louisville) or OH (Cincinnati, Columbus, and Dayton). **THE LOCATION IS NEGOTIABLE WITHIN THESE AREAS ONLY.**

This position is located at Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau, Assistant Administrator-Field Operations/Tax Audit Division.

The following are the duties of this position at the GS-12. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.

  • Plans and conducts assigned excise tax audits of alcohol, tobacco, firearms and ammunition industry members.
  • Provides excise tax assistance to Federal, and state enforcement officials as well as the members of industries.
  • Interview accountants, representatives of financial institutions, industry representatives, and others including Federal and state officials to obtain information relative to excise tax liability.
  • Participates in teams involved in excise tax audits and related matters with other auditors, special agents and/or inspectors.
