Summary

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.

Our main campus provides primary care and specialty health services, including mental health care, women's health services, prosthetics, eye care (ophthalmology), treatment for spinal cord injury, foot care, programs to help you stop smoking and using tobacco, and more. We are currently seeking a full-time Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation physician for our Geriatric Service Line.

Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases
Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)
Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA

Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory

Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm


The incumbent is responsible for providing PM&R services within Kansas City VA Medical Center facility. The physician may be asked to provide care in multiple areas within PM&R including but not limited to EMGs, Amputee Clinic, General Rehab Clinic, PRP clinic, SCI clinic, and other areas as needed, but all within the KCVA main location.

Duties which may include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Staff within PM&R are ultimately responsible for all aspects of PM&R care which includes the forementioned clinical services as well as consult reviews for appropriateness, and chart reviews for internal as well as external Acute Medical Rehabilitation admission appropriateness.
  • A PM&R provider is responsible to coordinate care with providers within PM&R dedicating care to treat pain, including Physical, Occupational and Speech therapies, chiropractic, acupuncture, and pain psychology, as determined by plan of care for the veteran. Open, clear, and collaborative engagements are an emphasized duty.
