What you will do

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Mine Engineer with a strong background in mining operations and environmental permitting to join our team at Ferroglobe USA Mining. This position will be instrumental in overseeing engineering activities across our underground coal, surface coal, and surface quartz mines, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and optimizing operational efficiency.
• Engineering Oversight: Provide technical expertise and support for mining operations, including planning, design, and implementation of mining methods and systems.
• Permitting and Compliance: Manage all aspects of environmental permitting, ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local regulations related to mining activities.
• Project Management: Lead and coordinate engineering projects, from feasibility studies to implementation, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
• Safety and Environmental Stewardship: Promote and enforce safe work practices and environmental stewardship within the mining operations.
• Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams including geologists, environmental specialists, and operations personnel to achieve operational goals.
• Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost optimization within mining operations.
• Reporting: Prepare technical reports, feasibility studies, and regulatory submissions as required.

What we seek
• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or related field.
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license preferred.
• Minimum of 5+ years of experience in mining engineering and environmental permitting.
• Strong understanding of underground and surface mining methods and equipment.
• Proven track record in managing environmental permits and ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Excellent project management and organizational skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• This position may require occasional travel to mine sites and regulatory agencies.

Criteria/Working Conditions
Work is in a underground/surface mine preparation plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particlesWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, work on elevated platforms, talk, hear and seeOccasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects up to thirty (30) pounds during the workdayPersonal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as requiredFerroglobe promotes a drug/alcohol free work environment through the use of mandatory pre-employment drug testing and on-going random drug testing as per applicable State Laws
