Development Specialist

SUMMARY OF OVERALL PURPOSE The Development Specialist provides support for all internal and external fundraising for individual groups and sponsorships. The specialist will be responsible for the monthly donor program, smalls grants, new family foundations and will assist the manager and Sr. Director with propsecting new individual donors. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Events & Fundraising Manage the monthly donor program: prospect new donors, steward existing donors with goal of increasing donations, partner with marketing to promote new initiative Steward individual donors, small grants and family foundations. Development engagement and appreciation plan in conjunction with efforts of the marketing department. Proactively engage lapsed donors Prospect new individual donors for the Village Conduct research on potential donors, partners and fundraising opportunities. Coach and support team fundraisers in their effort to exceed their financial goals. Coordinate and provide tours to prospective partners Develop and maintain relationships with external constituents (donors; corporate partners; organizations; etc.) to garner strong support for our work and mission. Business and Fiscal Responsibilities Managing a portfolio including monthly donors ($400k), individual donors ($500K) and family foundations/small grants ($400k). Prepare meeting agendas, recaps and budgets, while controlling expenses Maintain and update Salesforce records. Responsible for reviewing billing, purchasing for director approval for payment. Prepare and disseminate weekly reports highlighting action plan progress, new objectives, and fundraising tactics at development meeting and via weekly email. Represent Give Kids The World at tradeshows, presentations, and awareness functions on Village property as well as externally in the community and nationally, as needed. Make periodic visits, explore specific needs, and resolve problems in order to build and maintain constituent relationships while acknowledging, stewarding and growing fundraising resources as needed/requested. All other duties as assigned PHYSICAL DEMANDS OUTSIDE NORMAL WORK ENVIRONMENT Ability to travel 10% Ability to lift and transfer 25 lbs. Ability to work in all weather conditions. Willing to work many weekends and non-traditional hours. Strong attention to detail. Clear concise verbal communication skills with the ability to persuade others. Excellent written communication skills Collaborative team player that establishes effective working relationships by adjusting approaches to meet the needs of a diverse audience. Knowledge and experience in fundraising techniques Ability to maintain calm and composed in times of pressure. A strong sense of urgency, self-motivation, and commitment to get the job done quickly and with high quality. Steadfastly pushes self and others for results. Computer literate with proficiency with MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook, Salesforce with the ability to learn new computer programs. Ability to operate a motorized vehicle, including battery-operated golf cart. Valid driver's license and clean driving record. Must meet acceptable attendance and punctuality requirements, which are essential functions for the position. 3+ years of event experience in a non-profit Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred Professional certifications such as CFRE or related Experience with SalesForce is a plus.
