  Position Overview

Responsible for flying a drone for the purposes of Shelly Company Northwest inventory reporting and providing support to the Mine Engineering department by providing reports, flying additional sites, and preparing technical documents as needed. The role may also support operations and engineering with other services such as but not limited to assisting with Wildlife Habitat Council certifications as needed.

 

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

 

The duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: 

 

Inventory Management

  • Conduct inventory management activities including flying the drone, using software to calculate unbiased inventory tonnages, and generate/distribute reports for all sites with inventory piles in the Northwest Division
  • Collaborate with the Northwest Division management and Mine Engineering team on matters related to site inventories and inventory reports
  • Work with management and mining professionals on other issues as needed

 

Other Requirements:

  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Manual of Safety Practices and Procedures
  • Strict adherence to Shelly Company policies and procedures as outlined in the Company Code of Business Conduct
  • Strict adherence to all rules and regulations as outlined by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) including but not limited to flying a drone near airports and other restricted areas
  • Ability to receive and apply instruction from more senior members of the team
  • Ability to communicate with others and to assimilate and understand information in a manner consistent with the Key Responsibilities
  • Ability to be a self-starter, able to manage short- and long-term deadlines with varying levels of priority, and able to operate under general guidelines
  • Ability to learn under pressure and to complete tasks, with some guidance, accurately and on time
  • Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the public at all times
  • Report to the assigned job site ready to begin work at the designated start time
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required
  • Timely and regular attendance is an expectation of performance for all Shelly Company employees – employees will be held accountable for adhering to their workplace schedule
  • Assist in maintaining certification status of wildlife sites and coordinating events as needed
  • Ability to obtain Part 107 drone license
  • Regularly inspect, maintain, and safely store drone and other equipment
  • Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required
  • Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary

 


 

 

Qualifications

 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

 

Education and Experience

High School diploma or GED required; Bachelors or Associates Degree preferred or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Proficient with MS Office product suite and experience computer software programs required.

 

Language Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to speak effectively to customers or employees of organization.

 

 

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

 

 

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions and is regularly exposed to wet, humid condition airborne particles, and extreme heat or cold. The employee is occasionally exposed to vibration.

 

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud and may require protective equipment.
